What to Expect

At Clifton Strengths School, the focus is on strengths.

First, you discover your own talents as well as how you can apply and develop them into strengths to be a more effective educator.

Next, you learn how to discover the talents of your students. According to Dr. Gary Gordon, Practice Leader of Gallup’s Education Division, “Whatever your perspective on improving America’s schools, educational excellence relies more on the talents and the engagement levels of the people within an individual school than any other factor. Identifying and leveraging the underutilized talents of students, teachers, support staff, and principals should be the first consideration in improving outcomes for students.”

After which, you delve into using strengths to energize your students and create an engaging classroom environment — whether it is the K-12 classroom or the college campus.

The Gallup Student Poll revealed that a school’s commitment to strengths is associated with higher student engagement.

  • Seventy-nine percent of students who strongly agreed with “My school is committed to building the strengths of each student,” were engaged at school, compared to 11% of students who disagreed or strongly disagreed with the statement.

The Gallup Student Poll also revealed a strong link between experienced well-being and engagement.

  • Seventy-three percent of students who had a positive experience yesterday (who reported respect, learning something interesting, smiling/laughing, etc.) were engaged at school, compared to 12% who had a negative experience yesterday.

At Clifton Strengths School, you can expect to become part of the growing number of educators across America who are improving America’s schools and positively influencing student achievement — one student and one classroom at a time.
